images/stories/metakoplant_s.pngDomodedovo Plant of Metalware is one of the oldest and largest factory in Russia which produce PTL (power transmission lines). The factory was founded in 1934 year and located in Domodedovo city – 18 km away from Moscow.
The company was created in the formative years of the Soviet Russia economy in order to implement plans for electrification.
Originally, the plant's products have been welded power transmission towers with corrosion-resistant paint coating. During the existence plant gradually increased capacity and improved its production.
In 1965 there was mastered the production of assembly power poles with corrosion-resistant zinc coating. The advanced technologies allowed greatly increase the volume and products’ quality.
Service life of bearings increased up to 25 years. High quality, relevant international standards – these things allowed exporting products abroad.
The export volume comes up to 25% of total output. The support that was created in our company now is in the right of the pavilion "Space" (Cosmos). Special medal awarded from the company ENEA (VDNX) showed the recognition of the leadership and a high quality of products.
The time of reforms was a heavy period for our company but the plant continued to work. At the end of '80s when the country passed to market relations there was a situation to decline in orders for PTL. And METAKO  made a decision to find a new types of products.
At the beginning of  90s the first test of road fencing at the NITSIAMT polygon (Dmitrov city) together with Soyuzdornii. This test allowed METAKO take a leading position in this segment of road construction.

 

1994 - The plant became a Limited Liability Company - LLC DZMK METAKO.

1998 - A new period in the history of the plant. This year we had a radical reconstruction of zinc production and begun the modernization of equipment.

1998 -  METAKO purchased and installed a horizontal galvanizing bath 13m long, 2m deep and 1.8m wide. METAKO set the filters Eurofilter (Italy), installed 11 bathrooms for polypropylene preparation. The plant designed and certified ISO 9000 Quality System for compliance to international standards.

1999 - Collaboration with the Italian Metallmekanika Fracassi Company for the high-containment fences production. An automatic machine installed for processing sheet FICHEP metal details.

2000 – operation of a new universal CNC guardrails line production that allowed to produce two-wave beam in accordance with GOST and the German type, as well as three-wave beam and a rack 120 × 80 × 5 (6).

2002 - In concert with RosdorNII Soyuzdornii we started a series of tests for of road and bridge fencing (holding capacity from 300 to 600kJ) at the NITSIAMT polygon. The plant put into operation a new equipment for multi-faceted and round tapered poles producing.  Also METAKO put a new automatic line of plasma cutting with American Thermal Dynamix plasma torch.

2003 - An automatic line of multi-faceted and round tapered poles welding. The second automatic line of sheet FICHEP metal details processing installed. Italian technologists were invited for the technology development of multi-faceted and round tapered poles manufacturing. Our company purchased equipment for culverts (large corrugated pipes). This year we decided to make a complete replacement of zinc bath on a more modern setting depth of 3m.

2004 - Year of the seventieth anniversary of the plant. Additional equipment for multi-faceted and round tapered poles production put in operation. The plant installed a new dryer for zinc production. The second-line FICHEP corner treatment installed. METAKO got certificates of compliance for higher retention fences. First tests of the multifaceted and multidimensional transmission towers of power supports were at the polygon in ORGRES (Khotkovo). Quality System was recertified in compliance with the new version of ISO 9000.
